Related to these are roll-up summaries! Seriously there were probably four or five questions about roll-up summaries, like where can you use them (on master-detail relationships), what kind of things can/can't they do (they can do date and date/time fields but not if you're using functions that calculate something on the fly like NOW or TODAY, and they can't do cross-object formulas). There are multiple questions focused on these types of relationships so make sure you understand them fully. Know what happens to detail records if you delete the master. Know how many master-detail relationships can you have on an object (2). Know when you should use a lookup vs a master-detail, and know the limitations of each, like how you can't convert a master-detail relationship to a lookup if it has a roll-up summary on the master record. In a lot of ways it is a rehash of concepts on the admin exams but there are some areas that the app builder focuses on that you will not be tested on in the admin certs (or, at least won't be a heavy focus).īig ticket items: KNOW YOUR LOOKUP AND MASTER-DETAIL RELATIONSHIPS BACKWARDS AND FORWARDS.
After hearing there was a lot of overlap between that and app builder I decided to go for it! This ended up being a great decision and I highly recommend anyone who has recently passed their admin or advanced admin to schedule the app builder soon after. Two weeks ago I passed my advanced admin exam.
